In the system validation, NEC could not found any EMI problems even without the Common Mode Chokes. But EMI will be generated cause of PCB patterns, electric parts and its installation. NEC has evaluated for the system cooperated with the company as following,

Debugging Environment

In the first step of developing USB system, it is important to debug and analyze the electricity problems; noise, disorder of signaling waveform, critical fault of packet sequence. As well as developing USB system software driver, very important to confirm if the packet issues or respond as exact timing. NEC are going to develop our products with the following Maker's analyzer, scopes.


LeCroy Corporation is the second largest digital oscilloscope manufacturer in the world and acquired Computer Access Technology Corporation (former CATC) in October 2004. LeCroy provides total solutions for USB and other serial data analysis from physical to application layer such as Serial Data Analyzer(SDA) and protocol analyzers.

USB Compliance Information

Designed USB products must be passed through USB-IF's "Compliance Program". ( The products which has "passed", will get "LIPS" advantage.)
In order to complete the USB Compliance Program, there is two way of examination, one is to participate to "Plug Festa" event, and another is to get a commission by "Test Labs" for your products. "Plug Festa" will be held 3 or 4 times in every year, but it cannot always participate to the event as the number of companies which can participate is restricted.
Test site always is received the compliance test works with a fee.




USB 2.0 driver for embedded OS

Embedded system using NEC's Host Controller (µPD720100A/720101) must use USB2.0 driver software for the system's embedded OS.

The USB2.0 driver for embedded OS, such as µITRON and VxWorks, has been supported by Wipro Technologies.




About eSOL Corporation

Also eSOL Corporation supports the USB2.0 driver for embedded OS (µITRON,VxWorks,etc.) with NEC Electronics' Host Cotroller.




About Wind River

Wind River USB enables developers to quickly incorporate standard USB connectivity in VxWorks-based embedded devices and their attached peripherals.
Wind River USB supports version 2.0 of the USB specification, providing support for UHCI, OHCI and EHCI as well as incorporating low, full and high speed data rates.
USB 2.0 is included in Wind River Platform for Consumer Devices, Platoform for Industrial Devices and Platoform for Network Equipment. For more detail, please contact Wind River.

In developing these USB 2.0 driver stacks, NEC's host controller was used as a standard EHCI controller in the USB host controller market.
