Working towards Green Procurement

NEC Electronics is actively engaged in "green procurement" activities, the basic concept of which is to procure materials that are produced by environment-conscious partners using processes that have the smallest possible impact on the environment.
We define green procurement as "purchasing from partners that satisfy the requirements of NEC Electronics, as stated on the next page, as identified by a survey of their efforts toward environmental protection, and who have, as a result, acquired "green certification".

In fiscal 2003, as the first step of our activities, we conducted a green certification survey of those partners who provide us with direct materials and packaging, thereby achieving 100% green procurement in those areas.

In fiscal 2004, we began a survey, which is still ongoing, for partner certification with the aim of achieving 100% green procurement by the end of March 2006. As part of this, we expanded the range of the survey to include those partners providing us with indirect materials, facilities, and jigs/tools.
