1.1 Forms of packing and cautions

1.1.1 Forms of packing
The general packing specifications for our products are shown below. Please note that the containers known as magazines, tubes and sticks are all referred to as magazines in this document.

1.1.2 Cautions for handling

(a) Handle individual packing boxes with care. If boxes are subjected to hard knocks or vibration during transportation, the shape of device terminals may be altered or the main unit damaged. Please also avoid storing boxes in high-temperature or high-humidity locations.

(b) The surface of transparent plastic magazines has an antistatic additive coating, thus care should be taken with the following.
<1> If washed with water, the antistatic additive may dissolve and lose its effectiveness.
<2> If the surface of a magazine device is subjected to friction too many times, the effectiveness of the antistatic additive will be reduced. Please keep the number of times the device is removed and replaced in the magazine to a minimum.
As shown in the following figure, under standard storage conditions no variation per hour is observed in the surface resistance ratio, thus it meets our standard of 1.0×1012MAX.(Ω)

Hourly variation in magazine surface resistance

(c) Storage
When storage conditions are extremely bad, soldering quality may be reduced, external appearance may deteriorate, or characteristics degrade. The following conditions are recommended for storage locations.

<1> Temperature:5 to 30
<2> Humidity: 70% (RH) or below
<3> Ambience: No toxic gas such as sulfur dioxide, or little dust
<4> Other: Avoid any vibration or shock with potential to alter the shape of the packing container. Do not place excessive load on containers by stacking.

(d) Peeling strength of cover tapes of emboss tapes
The peeling strength of the cover tapes of NEC Electronics emboss tapes is 0.1 to 1.3N in the usual storage environment. Therefore, when using NEC Electronics emboss tape for mounted devices, take into account its peeling strength.

(e) Heat resistance of packing material

(i) Trays
There are two types of tray: heat resistant and non-heat resistant. Use a heat resistant tray for baking. Heat resistant trays are labeled "heat resistant" or "heat-proof" or "XXX
MAX". Note however that the maximum allowable temperature of heat resistant trays is 135.
(ii) Magazines and emboss tapes/reels
Plastic magazines and emboss tapes/reels are not made to heat resistant specifications. Place in heat resistant containers for baking.
* Note: During baking, take care not to cause terminal curve.
