The EP-1 Series features a PFESiP that is mounted with a high-performance CPU.
The CPU is specially designed for the PFESiP, based on the NEC Electronics V850E2 (200 MHz) that has a proven track record. Through collaboration with gate arrays, NEC Electronics provides high-performance custom CPUs.
The EP-1 Series is implemented using a microcontroller integrated with a test circuit pre-verified be NEC Electronics and a dedicated gate array master, through optimization of the pin layout for connection these and using a board design technology enabling high-density wiring. Furthemore, we are able to provide safe products by thoroughly analyzing and verifing thermal resistance, electrical specifications, and reliability.
A system mounted with a CPU can be created mainly by the following two methods.
The development using the SoC technology was confronted with issues regarding increased costs, time, and man-hours, while the development using general-purpose microcontrollers was confronted with issues regarding increased mounting area due to the increase in the number of components as well as component costs.
With the EP-1 Series, the customer can create an ASIC mounted with a CPU core, by designing and developing only a gate array that is the user logic. Consequently, development cost and development time can be drastically reduced, the mounting area can be minimized, and the number of components can be reduced, thus resolving the issues related to system LSI development.
The EP-1 Series is mounted with a high-speed operation (200 MHz) CPU and is suited for applications such as the following.
