The operatable models of Optical-coupled MOS FET (SSR)

April 2004

There are two types of Optical-coupled MOS FETs(OCMOS FET: Solid State Relay: SSR): "make" type ("a" contact: Normally open) and "break" type ("b" contact: Normally closed).
You can experience the difference between these two types by operation of the simulating models below.

If your browser supports JavaScript, you can manipulate them by clicking the "ON/OFF" or "STOP/GO" buttons.

1. "Make" type ("a" contact: Normally open)

This type contains a couple of enhancement-type MOS FETs.
They shuts off by application of no bias, and conducts by application of forward bias.
The initial state is "OFF".

Make type (a contact: Normally open)

2. "Break" type ("b" contact:Normally closed)

This type contains a couple of depletion-type MOS FETs.
They conducts by application of no bias, and shuts off by application of reverse bias.
The initial state is "GO".

Break type (b contact: Normally closed)
