Description

This is an LSI set that supports both next-generation DVD standards (HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc).
SCOMBO/UM2A(µPD63420A and µPD63421A) is supporting the 5 types of recording DVD standards and 2 types of recording CD standards, this LSI supports playback and recording of conventional major optical disc media.
SCOMBO/UM2P(µPD63425) is supporting the 5 types of recording DVD standards and 2 types of recording CD standards, this LSI only supports playback function of conventional major optical disc media.

  1. A necessary function for the optical disk drive device has been integrated in single-chip by digitalizing the analog processing circuit.
  2. Supports high-speed playback and recording in compliance with standards for major optical disc media. The maximum speed is 8x for Blu-ray Disc standards, 20x for DVD standards, and 48x for CD standards.
  3. Supports major standards for interfacing personal computers: serial ATA interface and parallel ATA interface.
  4. Supports major copyright protection technologies CSS and CPRM for DVDs, as well as the copyright protection technology called "Advanced Access Content System" (AACS) for Blu-ray Disc.
  5. Implements a function that enables connection of various types of SDRAM from 16 Mb to 128 Mb as external memory required for DVD recordable drive configurations.
