The capacities of recording media for personal computer data storage have increased, from floppy discs (FDs), to magneto-optical discs (MOs), to compact discs (CDs), to DVDs, in conjunction with ever-increasing volumes of recorded information - from a text to a sound and an image.
NEC Electronics has deep experience with the development and commercialization of signal processing LSIs in the optical disc drive field, and offers a rich product lineup that can meet our customers’ needs, including acceleration of recording speed, compatibility with multiple standards, integration of various functions onto one chip - and more.
Products supporting next-generation large-capacity formats using a blue laser method, namely HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc, as well as conventional CD and DVD standards, were developed in 2006.
NEC Electronics will actively continue to develop new products with a view toward commercialization of LSIs specialized and optimized for each function, LSIs are functionally integrated with the LSI EMMA series, which provide LSIs for DVD video/audio data processing (back-end processing), support of copyright protection functions and high-speed interface, and more.
RF EQ: RF equalizer
S/H: Sample and hold circuit
ALPC: Auto laser power control circuit
PDIC: Photo detector IC
LD driver: Laser diode driver IC
This is an LSI set that supports both next-generation DVD standards (HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc).
Supporting the 5 types of recording DVD standards and 2 types of recording CD standards, this LSI supports playback and recording of conventional major optical disc media.

Integrating functions that have been implemented in two conventional LSIs into one package, these LSIs configure recording DVD drives at a reasonable cost. Employing one of these LSIs allows substantial reduction of LSI peripheral parts and the area on the board.
These LSIs support compact serial-type flash memory.

These are LSI sets that support high double-speed playback and recording in compliance with the 5 types of recording DVD standards.
The analog processing LSI µPC3345, which supports recording at high speed (16x), and analog processing LSI µPC3346, which supports a low voltage of 3.3 V for low power consumption, can be selected as needed.
