Improves Efficiency of Application Software Development in a Single Platform

NEC Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723) today announced the expansion of its CubeSuiteTM into Singapore, Australia, India, and the rest of South-East Asia. As an integrated development environment (IDE), CubeSuite combines all the tools necessary to develop applications for NEC Electronics' 8- through 32-bit All FlashTM microcontrollers (MCUs) into a single platform.
CubeSuite is an all-in-one development environment that seamlessly integrates features and tools necessary for application software development, such as a code generator, compiler and assembler, debugger, and flash programmer. By providing an integrated environment, designers are able to perform all development using just the CubeSuite platform without the need to use separate tools. The platform also supports the entire manufacturing process from design, debug and flash-writing deployment, offering powerful support for quick systems development. Additionally, CubeSuite saves designers time and money by eliminating steps needed to initiate the development process and by shortening development cycles.
NEC Electronics' CubeSuite IDE offers the following features:
- Integrated tools necessary for application development
By standardizing the operations performed during the entire development process and sharing a common screen, tools are seamlessly integrated, making it easier to switch from one to another—even in the middle of an operation. The CubeSuite IDE also provides designers with rich features such as a user interface to enable visceral control and features that allow designers to customize their own icons and window layouts to suit their preferences. - Supports all phases of development process
NEC Electronics' CubeSuite IDE has several features to aid in the development process. Design tools assist in layout design for multipurpose pins, and a GUI-based code generator supports development of peripheral device drivers. To facilitate debugging, an action-event function allows easy monitoring of variables, and additional functionality offers features to decrease build time. - Full lineup of maintenance functions
The CubeSuite IDE also provides features to check for updates and download upgrades when available. It also includes a back-up feature that saves and restores tools and projects collectively. In addition, the CubeSuite IDE includes tutorial guides that can be used right after product installation to jumpstart tool training and usage.
Pricing and Availability
The CubeSuite IDE is currently shipping, and pricing is comparable to existing NEC Electronics tool products. The roadmap for this platform is expected to include an expansion of the features with reliability enhancements such as profiling, and unit and functional code testing tools.
