NEC Electronics Establishes Indian Liaison Office in Bangalore

Enhanced Support for Local and Multinational Corporations in the Region

NEC Electronics, a leading provider of system-on-chip (SoC), microcontroller, and discrete semiconductor solutions, today announced the opening of the company's first liaison office in India. The company will offer technical assistance and advanced design support for multinational corporations (MNCs) with operations in the region, and facilitate implementation of NEC Electronics devices by local businesses. The office is based in Bangalore, a key location for India's electronics, IT, and semiconductor industries.
At the opening ceremony held today, NEC Electronics president and CEO Toshio Nakajima stated, "Bangalore has become one of the world's major hubs for technology and development, and India is home to the fastest-growing semiconductor market in Asia. The establishment of this liaison office underscores NEC Electronics' commitment to our local and global customers in this rapidly growing market."

NEC Electronics will provide local support to the numerous MNCs with hardware and software development bases in India. Highly qualified field application engineers (FAEs) will offer assistance with implementing semiconductors in a wide range of consumer electronics, automotive and industrial systems. Additionally, customers will benefit from design support for leading edge devices such as embedded DRAM (eDRAM) to be manufactured using NEC Electronics' advanced processes.
NEC Electronics will also cultivate relationships and business opportunities with local companies, and make available to them the company's comprehensive lineup of general purpose and automotive microcontrollers, power management devices, and system-on-chip solutions for digital consumer applications. In particular, it will promote NEC Electronics' renowned All Flash^TM microcontrollers for affordable home appliances, automotive electronics, and motorcycles; power management devices for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) battery systems and energy meters; and EMMA^TM solutions for set top boxes and other digital consumer applications.

The new liaison office will be overseen by NEC Electronics' subsidiary in Singapore, which has a 30-year history in Asia and will provide full administrative support and know-how. The office will be headed by Dr. Krishnan Neelakantan, an expert in the area of VLSI Design with more than 31 years of experience in the chip industry.
In addition, a robust network of third party sales representatives and hardware and software design companies will facilitate more efficient sales and development. As it expands its presence in India, NEC Electronics will continue to develop relationships with partner companies in the area of development.
