NEC Electronics and Tata Consultancy Services Sign Certified Design House Agreement
Enhanced Engineering, Design and Sales Support for ISSPTM Structured ASICs
KAWASAKI, Japan, MUMBAI, India, May 15, 2006
NEC Electronics Corp. and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) today announced an agreement whereby TCS will provide engineering and design services to its worldwide customers based on NEC Electronics' ISSPTM structured ASICs. The agreement, entered into by TCS and NEC Electronics Singapore, a subsidiary of NEC Electronics, will allow ISSP customers worldwide to receive design support from TCS for the complete lineup of ISSP products, and will also help promote global sales of ISSP products.
"Structured ASICs such as our ISSP series, which offer high performance at low cost and with fast turnaround times, have become an increasingly attractive option for customers in recent years," stated Hiroshi Hikichi, general manager, Platform ASIC Division, NEC Electronics. "We are aiming to expand our ISSP sales through Certified Design House partners such as TCS, with strong design service capabilities."
Tata Consultancy Services' significant expertise in design and development of high-speed, high-performance digital, analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (IC) and system-on-chips (SoC) for High-speed networking, wireless communications, multimedia, consumer electronics, automotive/aviation and industrial controls makes it a natural partner for NEC Electronics. TCS' Chip design group has expertise to develop designs from concept to GDSII.
ISSP customers will benefit from TCS' wide selection of Intellectual Property in various application domains, including H.264 codecs, EtherCAT (Ethernet for Control Automation Technology), JPEG2000 and wireless LAN. By leveraging TCS's experience in these areas, customers can bring new ISSP designs to market with short turnaround times at a very affordable cost.
"The CDH agreement with NEC Electronics means a big step in chip design not only for Tata Consultancy Services but also for India as a preferred destination for design services. TCS' wide experience, focus on IC design, its global footprint and the merits of this technology will add significant value to our customers, enabling them to achieve a higher return on their investments in chip designs," stated Ravi Gopinath, Vice President and Head of Engineering & Industrial Services, Tata Consultancy Services.
NEC Electronics and TCS will work closely together to provide ISSP customers with optimal service and support.
