NEC Electronics Establishes System Software Development Operations Unit
KAWASAKI, Japan, November 8, 2004 -
To strengthen software development for system LSIs and offer customers greater software support, NEC Electronics Corporation today established the System Software Development Operations Unit. The primary goals of the new unit are to enhance productivity by creating a shared company-wide software platform, and to enable higher product quality, lower prices, and faster time-to-market by improving management of software development.
The System Software Development Operations Unit will be comprised of 450 employees, of whom approximately 80 percent will be employees of NEC Micro Systems, Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of NEC Electronics. The unit will be headed by vice president Seiji Mitsuoka, formerly general manager of the Software Strategy Planning Division, and will house divisions devoted to software development for digital AV, mobile phone, automotive and other applications.
"We are witnessing an explosion in demand for embedded system software," stated Seiji Mitsuoka, vice president, System Software Development Operations Unit. "With the establishment of this new unit, NEC Electronics will step up its efforts to better serve the software needs of our customers."
