On-board Programming


This programming method consists in programming the flash microcontroller after it has been mounted on the target system.


  • Programming interface pins are to be provided on the target system.
  • The programming interface differs depending on the product.
    Select the right product by checking the user's manual of each product.
  • If 3-wire serial H/S is supported, the use of the serial H/S enables faster writing.
  • The flash microcontroller on the board can be programmed regardless of whether if it has already been programmed or is blank.
  • Flash microcontrollers can be programmed even inline (on production lines).


Below is an example of the on-board programming setup in which the PG-FP5 flash programmer of NEC Electronics is used.
