NEC Electronics has published an environmental report for the first time since its launch from NEC. The single-volume report contains our policies and current activities regarding environmental conservation and will be published annually in both Japanese and English. Until now, the activities of NEC Electronics were incorporated in NEC's environmental report, but now these activities be reported separately and with greater focus on our individual activities. We hope this report will help you understand the efforts we are making with respect to environmental issues.
To meet the needs of our customers and serve society as a good corporate citizen, we have made environmental conservation one of the most important issues in our management strategy. NEC Electronics promotes eco-factories and green products activities that reduce environmental impact in production processes and in products that employ our semiconductors, respectively.
High energy consumption and the use of chemical substances are unavoidable in the production process of semiconductors, and also in the implementation of various environmental activities. Our significant contributions in reducing the environmental impact and energy consumption of our customers' products have been made by offering lead-free products and energy-saving semiconductors for electrical equipment.
This inaugural issue of the "NEC Electronics Environmental Report" focuses on our environmental activities as a semiconductor manufacturer. It also explains our various efforts, including our achievement of zero emissions through the reduction of waste and recycling of natural resources, and the reduction of CO2 emissions through efficient energy consumption in our factories.
