NEC Electronics received the 2002 Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) award from Intel Corporation on March 26 (U.S. time). The SCQI award recognizes a select group of suppliers who have been highly evaluated for the quality and performance of the products and services they provide to Intel.

Intel has been presenting the prestigious SCQI award since 1990. Awardees are chosen from among the approximately 20,000 vendors who do business with Intel by rating them according to fixed standards for their contributions to Intel in terms of cost competitiveness, quality, technological strengths and other factors, and then presenting the award to those with especially high ratings.

NEC Electronics also received the SCQI award in 1998 as a pipeline burst SRAM supplier, thus making this the second time for the company to be presented with the award.

Currently, NEC Electronics provides Intel with ASIC devices, low-power SRAM and pseudo SRAM. The SCQI award was presented to NEC Electronics in recognition of the extremely high quality of these products as well as the company's flexible response to requests from Intel regarding design modifications and changes in demand. While there were also 12 other companies who received the award this year, NEC Electronics was the only company to receive the award as a semiconductor supplier.

In addition to the SCQI award, Intel has also established the Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award. NEC Electronics was recognized with the PQS award for three years in a row from 1999 to 2001 as an SRAM supplier. If this award is taken into account, it can be said that NEC Electronics has received supplier awards from Intel for five consecutive years.

NEC Electronics is committed to making the most of its cutting-edge technological capabilities and global sales network so that it can continue to provide its customers with optimal solutions and place utmost importance on their complete satisfaction.
