Idea 3: Develop an ASSP companion as an SoC alternative
ASSPs often provide functionality almost identical to the IP in an SoC, but you pay a high price to integrate that functionality into the SoC. You can create a low-cost, fast-turnaround alternative to the SoC by combining one or more ASSPs with a gate array.
With an ASSP and gate array combination, the ASSP provides the standard IP you need and the gate array adds the customization. Remember, you can design a gate array companion within one to two months, including manufacturing turnaround.
