Do files returned during the ROM ordering process use the same format as the files originally sent?

FAQ-ID : v85rom-0001

Q-1
The files returned as part of the ROM ordering process were in the same format as the files I sent.
Were the files simply copied and returned?
A-1
This is because they are processed as follows in mask order computer processing.
(The following flow is simplified to make it easy to understand.)

(1) The medium is received.
(2) The contents of the medium are read into the order processing computer and the images are stored.
(3) The stored images are processed and the contents checked.
(4) If the result of the check is OK, the stored images are recorded on a medium as return data.
