Reset Pin

Using Reset Pin as Alternate-Function Port [Low-Pin-Count Device]

FAQ-ID : 78r_port-0001Last Updated : 2006/05

Q-1
I believe that in the 78K0S/KA1+, the reset pin can also be used as a port pin. How is this done, and what points should I note when doing this?
A-1
When using the reset pin as a port pin, a reset is executed by using the POC function when the power is on. However, the following points must be noted.

(1)Be sure to preset the RMCE bit of the option byte (address 80H) to 0.
(2)The P34 pin (which functions alternately as the reset pin) must be fixed to high level until the POC-initiated reset is released.

This also applies to the 78K0S/KY1+. For further details, see the option byte chapter in the relevant user's manual.
