Multimedia Mobile Solutions: Jbed Advanced

Jbed, a high-performance Java compilation engine, translates Java programming instructions, or bytecodes, into native instruction set of the underlying microprocessor.

Through platformOViA from NEC Electronics and J2ME multitask-platform from Esmertec, a fast processing environment is achieved for various Java applications used in mobile multimedia.

platformOViA solution for mobile multimedia was demonstrated through a system LSI MP211-eqipped device where 3D processing and news headlines from RSS Reader are displayed simultaneously.

SIP/VoIP Middleware

To offer customers a flexible IP telephone solution, platformOViA and Softfront jointly develops SIP/VoIP middleware that enables IP telephone to function under various environments. High-quality audio and reduced audio-delay is achieved through platformOViA solution where SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and RTC/RTCP (voice data streaming) are running on middleware resided on Linux.

platformOViA solution was demonstrated through IP telephone equipped with system LSI MP211 for mobile phone and Ethernet-enabled PC where conversation could be made between two parties.

PARTNER-Jet Multiple CPU Linux Environment

While the trend of embedded CPU is moving towards multiple-core, developers want to use the development environment to which that they are accustomed and familiar. To respond to developersf request, Kyoto Microcomputer has developed PARTNER-Jet.

PARTNER-Jet provides a development environment where multi-core CPU is connected through JTAG port to ICE (evaluation board) and then to PC through USB port. Evaluation and testing are done through Eclipse, software offered by IBM at no cost, running on PC machine.

Through this tool, Mobile System LSI platformOViA offers a simple development environment for multi-core MP211.

JBlend Series: Java Application Practical Development for Embedded Electronics

JBlend embeds between OS and Java VM and is capable of coordinating with real-time operating systems and interfacing with native applications written in Java bytecodes. One of the major applications is Java applications running on mobile phones.

With platformOViA solution and JBlend, there is basically no need to remodel hardware to make it compatible with the existing developed software and thus accelerate time-to-market.

Object-Oriented Real-Time System Development Solution

UML (Unified Modeling Language) is used as modeling tool for designing program or defining simulation. By using UML, a system could be built efficiently from design to implementation stage with high reliability.

For automotive electronics solution, UML is used as a development tool and the result was demonstrated through various demos that outline the development stages from design to implementations.

At ET 2005, the demo includes two monitors, steering wheel, gas/brake paddle, model car, and V850 microcomputer. One monitor displays UML modeling and another monitor displays the travel pattern of the model car. Visitors may control the car with steering wheel and paddles. Also visitors can see the actual implementation derived from UML modeling where 3 ECU boards are connected to automotive controls through FlexRay.
