MCU and Development Environments

Embedded USB solution: 32-bit AllFlash MCU with built-in USB host / function

NEC Electronics' record-proven USB controller can be adopted both in PC and embedded system. FS mode can be achieved through the integrated one-chip V850, and HS mode can be achieved through LSI uPD720150.

At the booth, images saved in USB memory stick were displayed at LCD panels handled by the evaluation kit. Also, software developed by 3rd party which enables audio replay with an integrated one-chip was exhibited at the booth, too.

Low power's new frontier: 16-bit AllFlash MCU

Once again, NEC Electronics has successfully delivered the industry's top-of-the-class ultralow power consumption microcontroller. The 16-bit AllFlash MCU operates at high speed, low speed, and standby at about 20%, 50%, and 50%, respectively, less than the previous predecessor. By incorporating more devices into it, a smaller size of the system can be realized.

At the booth, operating frequency and electrical current are displayed at high speed, low speed, and standby modes. Another display demonstrated that the microcontroller can be powered by the tiny amount of voltage generated from a small rectangular piezoelectric pad!

Combining the highly-refined low-power and the market-proven motor control technologies from NEC Electronics, top-of-class 16-bit AllFlash MCU is born. By incorporating multi-functional timer and peripheral analog devices, a more energy-efficient appliances / industrial machines can be designed at a lower cost.

At the booth, low-rotation motor demo can be viewed.


Touch-panel solution: V850ES/JG2

By integrating the logic portion of a touch-panel control panel into one chip, V850ES/JG2 delivers a great cost/performance system.

At the booth, drawings from the library were being traced out on the touch-panel live.


Voice solution with 8-bit and 16-bit Microcontrollers

With AllFlash microcontrollers from NEC Electronics, voice synthesis can be designed with 8-bit or higher microcontrollers. From voice data creation to enclosure design, 3rd party development partners provide the supports needed for the design project.

At the booth, a mechanical doll read out the paragraphs in a natural fashion. Mouth movements, reading speed and pitch level are all adjusted and controlled by 16-bit AllFlash microcontroller.


Wireless solution for embedded devices: ZigBee

ZigBee offers an affordable and low-power alternative to wireless network solution.

At the booth, a drawing made at a PC was transferred to another PC by the designated ZigBee device (78K0R/KE3).


Beginner's microcontroller software creation: Mouse and Applilet EZ PL

By simply arranging the logic circuitry with a mouse, software can be created without using any programming language. The software can also be outputted in C Language and thus making it ideal for beginners.

At the booth, the development environment and an actual working evolution kit can be viewed.

Easily customizable microcontroller: Platform ESiP (PFESiP)

LCD controller is realized with USB and gate array embedded on an evaluation board.

By integrating microcontroller and gate array into one chip with SiP technology from NEC Electronics, customers can reduce the development and cost required for customized microcontrollers.

Automotive network solutions: CAN/LIN, and FlexRay

The demo car at the booth was equipped with actual-working steering wheel, accelerator, and brake, and functions were created by the existing development tools and starter kit.

Automotive navigation SoC: "NaviEngine"

The one-chip, high-spec system LSI, NaviEngine, is equipped with four ARM11 core processors for parallel processing and uses PowerVR architecture (used in one of the popular game systems) for 3D graphics processing.

At the demo booth, navigation, motion pictures, 3D graphics and game are being processed and displayed on the same screen concurrently! "One navi four fun" - a great addition to the in-vehicle navigation / entertainment system!

By just adding uPD63901 to the existing car audio system, iPod compatible system can be built easily.
