How do PC-9800 and AT-compatible products differ?
Q1
How do PC-9800 and AT-compatible products differ?
I tried to operate a PC-9800 product with an AT-compatible and it seemed to work, but is it this all right?
A1
The difference is the environments during program creation and evaluation.
For example, different products result when, in the case of a PC-9800 product, CC78K or RA78K0 is created using a PC-9800 development environment and library, and when, in the case of an AT-compatible, an AT-compatible environment and library.

In the case of non-Windows-compatible products, there are products for which the PC BIOS and hardware are directly manipulated, and in the worst case, the disk contents may be destroyed, so be careful not to perform operation in a different environment.

In what cases are the 78K4 tools required?
Q1
Among the software tools, when are the ones listed below required?
- System simulator (XM78K4)
- System performance analyzer (AZ78K4)
- Real-time OS (RX78K4)
- OS for embedding (MX78K4)
A1
System simulator (SM78K4)
This simulator is used to perform program debugging without using an in-circuit emulator.
Real-time execution is not possible, but even if there is no hardware, program logic verification and performance verification can be done.

System performance analyzer (AZ78K4)
This analyzer is used to perform program tuning, such as when there are strict requirements regarding the program processing time.
The task execution history and RTOS resource access information are graphically displayed, so the task load status and so on are clear and tuning indexes can be easily determined.

Real-time OS (RX78K4)
OS for embedding (MX78K4)
These are real-time OS's that support the realization of real-time control system.
The RX78K4 complies with the μITRON specification, and can be effective when performing real-time control.
The MX78K4 is a limited-function product that can be used in relatively small systems, but its skillful use requires a fair amount of knowledge.
