How can a break event be set on the source?
Q1
How can a break event be set on the source?
A1
E_ptm.gif To set a breakpoint on the Source text window or Disassemble window, click the point mark area of each window. Then 'B' mark will be displayed.
If Hard break is selected in the On Mouse Click area of the Extended Option setting dialog box, a hardware breakpoint (event detection break) is set (the 'B' mark is displayed in red); if Soft break is selected, a software breakpoint is set (the 'B' mark is displayed in blue).
With the simulator, no breakpoint has to be specified in the Extended Option setting dialog box because there is no concept of software break.

To cancel the setting, click the 'B' mark of the breakpoint to be canceled. The 'B' mark disappears and the setting is canceled.

In addition, breakpoints can also be set and canceled by using the [Execute] menu and pop-up menu (displayed by right-click).

A breakpoint set on the Source text window cannot be canceled.
Q1
A breakpoint set on the Source text window cannot be canceled.
A1
If the source is edited and rebuilt after setting a breakpoint, the breakpoint set by the debugger or simulator may remain (not be deleted) on the Source text window.

At this time, delete the breakpoint from the event manager (or software break manager).

To launch the event manager, select the following from the menu bar.

[Event] menu -> [Event Manager]
(The event manager can also be launched by clicking the B_evtmng.gif button.)

To launch the software break manager, select the following from the menu bar.

[Event] menu -> [Software Break Manager]
(The software break manager is not provided to the simulators and ID78K0S-NS when the IE-78K0S-NS is used.)

Select the event that is set, and then click the or button. The breakpoint on the Source text window will be canceled.

Q1
Is there any method of execution with the setting of breakpoints not canceled but temporarily ignored?
A1
Break can be ignored in the following two ways.

1. Using [Execute] menu
Select [Ignore Break] from the [Execute] menu. All the breakpoints can be ignored during the subsequent execution.

2. Using Come function
Move the cursor onto the source text or disassemble text, and then select [Execute to Cursor Position] from the [Execute] menu. The breakpoints will be ignored during execution.
