Certification Body
Q1
Is there an organization that certifies IEEE1394 products?
A1
The 1394 Trade Association holds a "plugfest" four times a year.
By participating in this plugfest, connection compatibility with other companies' products can be tested.
If your product is compatible, you can receive a "Compliant Logo" certificate.

Please see the 1394 Trade Association website for details.

node_vendor_id
Q1
Each node is assigned a unique 64-bit ID, Node_Unique_ID. However, how is node_vendor_id, which forms the higher 24 bits of this ID, determined?
A1
A Company_ID code acquired from the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) must be assigned to the higher 24 bits of Node_Unique_ID.
Please see the IEEE1394 standard (IEEE1394-1995 Section 8.3.2.5.1) for details.
