Community Involvement


The NEC Electronics Group desires to work together with employees to make heartfelt contributions to society. Thus far, we have focused on developing work environments that make it easy for employees to participate in activities that contribute to communities.
Moving forward, we will actively contribute to society as a good corporate citizen.


Basic Policies for Social Contribution Activities
- We will promote social contribution activities by encouraging employees to be aware of community issues and by supporting their efforts to be of service to communities.

  1. As a semiconductor manufacturer, NEC Electronics is deeply involved in issues of global environmental conservation. We will contribute to society as a good corporate citizen by doing our part to aid in environmental efforts and other issues of importance to local communities where we do business.
  2. The NEC Electronics Group will engage in activities that contribute to improving and projecting a corporate image that is appropriate for a global enterprise.
  3. We will participate in activities promoted by the NEC Group to contribute to NEC's brand value.

Getting people involved in Corporate Social Responsibility activities will be easier if we focus our minds, hearts, and hands on volunteer work and give our continuous support to planned activities.
Conducting various activities in partnership with governmental and non-governmental organizations in the societies we live in, rewards us with an amazing feeling of satisfaction from seeing the sincere and happy faces of the recipients.

Volunteer activities such as making donations to welfare organizations and the needy are not as difficult as fostering the spirit of "volunteerism" to contribute materials, time, and physical presence. It is imperative for leaders in organizations to continuously motivate their respective teams to participate in volunteer activities by setting the example and praising the efforts of volunteer teams. This is also the secret of continuous volunteer activity.

Let's make a big difference together where we work and live by joining in meaningful volunteer work.

Tap water in Kumamoto is delicious. Kumamoto is one of the few cities in the world in which all the tap water is supplied by plentiful pure groundwater. In recent years, however, the groundwater level has been diminishing.
To replenish the groundwater and facilitate CO2 absorption, NEC Semiconductors Kyushu Yamaguchi participates in a tree-planting project in Ozu-machi at the foot of Mt. Aso, where the middle reaches of the Shirakawa River feed the plentiful groundwater in Kumamoto City and where water is able to penetrate deep into the ground. The area where the trees are being planted is called the NEC Forest. Our employees and other volunteers have planted 9,000 so far and plan to plant another 3,000 in fiscal 2009. We want to continue environmental activities that are rooted in the community and make even greater contributions in the future.
