NEC Electronics became independent of NEC on November 1st, 2002, and has taken new steps as a global scale specialist manufacturer of semiconductors.

NEC Electronics offers customers both efficiency and quality in the supply of semiconductors as an IDM (integrated device manufacturer) with functions such as research and development, design, manufacturing, and sales, all within the group.

With our advanced proprietary technologies for which we hold over 20,000 patents, we at NEC Electronics will continue to offer semiconductor solutions in various fields in order to realize a richer, more comfortable society.

Our Corporate History

   
July, 1899 Established as Nippon Electric Company, Limited
1950 Commenced transistor development
1958 Established Japan’s first transistor mass production factory at the Tamagawa Business Office
1974 Started overseas expansion of production/sales bases
1985 Semiconductor share #1 in the world, maintained the top for 7 years afterward
1995 Developed the world’s first 1-Gb DRAM
1997 The semiconductor business group received the first "Japan Quality Award"
November, 2002 Established as NEC Electronics Corporation
-- NEC's semiconductor business was split/became independent as a semiconductor specialist manufacturer
July, 2003 NEC Electronics Corporation listed on the 1st section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange
2004 First in the world to establish embedded DRAM technology
2005 Completed construction of the 300 mm wafer line at NEC Yamagata
